Sponsored by IREX and in collaboration between the University of Zakho and the Duhok Polytechnic University, a two-session seminar entitled Strategies for Teaching Large- Sized Classes: Speaking Skills as an Example was presented by two lecturers from the Department of English Language at the University of Zakho, namely Mr. Sanan Shero Malo Zebari and Mr. Ivan Hasan Murad at the Seminar Hall of the Duhok Administrative Technical Institute at the Duhok Polytechnic University.

The seminar was delivered to a large number of academic staff members of the Duhok Polytechnic University. The seminar tackled some strategies to cope with large-sized classes at universities in the Kurdistan Region. Furthermore, the seminar discussed an important issue about large classes and how to make use of large-sized classes in terms of the number of students to enhance the process of teaching and learning. Enough space was given to the participants to raise questions and discuss issues related to challenges encountered while dealing with large- sized classes.

Finally, the seminar ended with a talking circle as a speaking activity to demonstrate the reasons, how teachers can benefit of having a large number of students inside the class.
