Under the auspice of Mr. Massoud Barzani, the President of the Kurdistan Region, the Commission of Human Sciences at the University of Zakho held the first international scientific conference under the slogan "Aylol Revolution in the Local and Foreign Journalism 1916-1975", on 29/3/2017, Wednesday, In the presence of Mr. Fadhel Mirani, representative of the President of the Kurdistan Region, Mr. Mohammed Haji Mahmoud, Secretary of the Kurdistan Socialist Party, and a large number of members of the Parliament of Kurdistan and politicians and a number of cultural institutions, media, professors and students of the University of Zakho.

The conference began with a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs of Kurdistan. The opening session was started by a speech delivered by the President of the University of Zakho, Assistant Professor Dr. Lazgin Jamil Abdi , in which he welcomed the guests and all the attendees and spoke about the revolution of September and the achievements of the revolution. He also talked about the University of Zakho, and referred to the activities carried out by the staff of the university, pointing to the future activities and plans of the university.

After the end of his speech, Mr. Fadel Mirani, representative of the President of the Kurdistan region, and Dr. Diyar Abdul Karim Saeed, Dean of the faculty of Humanities, talked about the revolution of September and the achievements of the leaders in this revolution and said "One of the main objectives of this conference is to strengthen the relations between the university and the community". After the end of the speeches, a documentary film about the revolution of September was presented to illustrate the stages of the revolution"s establishment.

The Conference began with a special political and historical session hosted by Mr. Fadhel Mirani, representative of the President of the Kurdistan Region, Mr. Mohammed Haj Mahmoud, Secretary of the Kurdistan Social Party, and Mr. Dindar Doski. The three gentlemen expressed their views about the achievements of the leaders, and thus ended the first day of the conference.
At the end of the conference, a number of active journalists the history of the Kurdish press were honored with appreciation gifts.
It is worth mentioning that the conference was managed by Dr. HogirTaher Tawfiq, the Head of History Department.
