Aiming to internationalize Kurdistan Universities, that is one of the strategic plans of the ministry of higher education and scientific research of Kurdistan Regional Government, Dr.Yousif Goran, The minister of higher education and scientific research announced to start sending ten capable students of Kurdistan universities to the Republic of China.

Karwan Jafaar, a student at the department of English language UOZ, was chosen as a representative of the University of Zakho and a member of the delegation that included Dr. Muhammad Hussein Ahmed, head of the delegation, Mr. Zhou, China's General Consulate in Erbil and students from different universities of Kurdistan region. The delegation stayed in China for 12 days and came back to Kurdistan with a new experience.

The main purpose of this trip was to be familiar with the history, culture, development of China, and the level of education in its universities. In this trip, there was also a visit to Beijing Foreign Studies University, which is one of the top universities in China where fifty foreign languages are studied. Furthermore, the delegation introduced Kurdistan to this university through a presentation. The university expressed its pleasure and suggested opening a Kurdish language department in their university. In addition, there were visits to four great cities in China which were: Shanghai, Suzhou, Nanjing, and Beijing, all resembled the most important historical and touristic places of China.

At the end of the trip, the delegation pointed out the importance of such kinds of trips and suggested that it should continue in the up coming years for other students in Kurdistan.
