The University of Zakho Participated in a Workshop at the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani

On the 6th and 7th of May, 2019 two representatives of the University of Zakho participated in a workshop on "Enhancing English Language Teachers Experiences". The workshop lasted for two days and a great number of universities across the Kurdistan region participated in it. The University of Zakho had two representatives namely: Mr. Ivan Hasan Murad, a lecturer at the English Dept. and Mr. Nechirvan Hassan Jawzel, assistant lecturer at the same department. The workshop covered a great number of important issues on teaching practices and also learning styles. The main topics presented were:

1. "Important aspects that make for good teacher", presented by Geoffrey Gresk, Dean of Students.
2. "Teaching methods and Techniques", presented by Louise Jaff, a member of the teaching staff of the university.
3. "Lesson Planning" presented by Barbara Russel, a member of the teaching staff of the university.
4. "Different Learning Styles for Students" presented by Rachel Gresk, Director of Academic Preparatory Program.
5. "Adapting Texts and Outside Materials for Your Classroom" presented by Zimkitha Mpatheni
The attendees also had times specified for class observation. The teachers observed were faculty members of the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani. It is worth mentioning that the workshop had a great positive impact on the participants as it presented crucial issues relating to teaching and learning and also brought together almost all universities across the Kurdistan Region.
