On Thursday, October 12, 2017, the University of Zakho held its graduation ceremony (Seventh Round- Kurdistan Round) for the academic year (2016-2017) under the theme "Unity is the foundation of the establishment of Kurdistan". The graduation ceremony was held at the Hall of Sport at the University campus.

The ceremony was attended by (Farhad Atroshi), Governor of Duhok, Mr. Dawoud Sulieman, Represenative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and a number of government representatives, private sectors, the media, and a number of university professors.

At the beginning of the ceremony, the attendees stood a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs of Kurdistan. Then a speech was delivered by Assist. Prof. Dr. Abdul-Wehab Khalid Musa, Vice President for Students Affairs. He welcomed the guests and students. After that, Assist. Prof. Dr. Lazgin Abdi Jameel, the president of the University of Zakho welcomed the guests and congratulated students for their achievement.

Likewise, Representative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research delivered a speech expressing his heartfelt congratulations and pointed to the role of the graduates in receiving the knowledge and development of skills after the graduation. He also pointed to the opening of a number of new colleges including Medicine at the University of Zakho. He further focused on the scientific level of the university and the great success it achieved in a short period since its establishment.

Furthermore, a number of university professors were honored for their efforts as the best researchers at the university level, some at the faculty level, and five departments were honored in the university as the best departments in carrying out the scientific process foe the academic year (2016-2017). Moreover, it should be noted that the number of students graduated this year is (838).
