Under the motto of "Resistance for Independence", Resistance Literature Festival which was organized by Writer Union in Erbil in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Youth in Kurdistan took place on 13th-14th of September 2017.

Mr. Khalid Duski, Minister of Culture and Youth, Mr. Kaka Mem Butani, the head of Kurdish Writer Union, as well as the heads of writers from all over Kurdistan, and a number of famous literary figures participated in this festival.

It is worth noting that Mr. Diler Kemal Ahmed, a Research Assistant n the Statistics and ICT center at the University of Zakho, participated in the festival with a research entitled "Resistance Literature in the time of Kurdistan government and the poems written during ISIS control". The researchers expressed their admiration for his research and many constructive discussions took place between him and the audience. At the end of the festival, he was honored by the festival organizers for his active role and participation.
