The University of Zakho participated in 2016 Fall Intensive Course from September 26, 2016, to October 10, 2016, in Berlin, Germany. This training program was organized by CIS (Center for Iraq Studies). It is worth to be mentioned that the 2016 Fall Intensive Course was designed for lecturers from colleges of Administration and Economics and other social sciences. The highlights of the Course were the specially designed presentations and workshop at the Humboldt University, Free University of Berlin, and Berlin School of Economics and Law. But also the receptions with lectures and discussions at the Middle East Department of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), Federation of German Industries (BDI), and at the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) were highly instructive and much appreciated by the course trainees. A special occasion for networking was the participation of the trainees at the 7th Arab-German Education and Vocational Training Forum organized by iMOVE – training – made in Germany and GHORFA – Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (link).Besides the University of Zakho, there were also 34 participants from the Universities Baghdad, Duhok, Kufa, Mustansiriya, Muthanna, Qadisiya, Salahaddin, Sulaimani and Zakho. More importantly, the CIS Intensive Training Program aims at supporting scientists from all departments of Iraqi universities in integrating modern technologies and methods in their teaching and research practices, improving their intercultural communication skills and giving them the opportunity for scientific exchange and networking with their German colleagues. These courses are open to faculty members from all Iraqi universities independent of governmental funding. They last for two weeks with the opportunity to participate in an additional cultural program. Iraqi Universities are welcome to ask the CIS to design special courses according to their demands.
