On August 9th, 2017, the delegate of the Turkish Consulate in Erbil headed by the Consul General Mr. Mohamet Akif Inam and Vice consul Mr. Orhan Unlu and Abdulselam Rashed Ismael, General Director of the Kurdistan Foreign Relations visited the University of Zakho. The delegate met the president of the university Dr. Lazgin Abdi Jamil, Dr. Ahmad H. Ibrahim, the Director of the International Relation Office, and the university council members. The aim of the visit was to strengthen the relations between the University of Zakho and the diplomatic mission of the Turkish Consulate in Erbil. Further, Dr. Lazgin presented a speech about the activities of the University of Zakho especially with the Turkish educational institutes and thanked the Turkish Consul for supporting the Turkish Cultural Center as well as the Turkish Language Department by the Turkish academic staff.
The Turkish Consul warmly welcomed the University of Zakho as an important university due to its geographical location on the Turkish border and congratulated the University of Zakho for being accepted in the Turkish Higher Education and as a world recognized university. In addition to this, he promised to support the University of Zakho in the future activities besides the Turkish Cultural Center then he delivered a speech to the Turkish Language Department.
Finally, the president of the University of Zakho honored the Turkish Consul by giving him the Logo of the University of Zakho as a gift and thanked him for his kind visit.
