English Language Department Held Its First Symposium

On Monday, November 8, 2021, the Zakho Center for Kurdish Studies at the University of Zakho held the first symposium of a series of seminars for the faculty departments, in the presence of the dean, faculty members and students.

The symposium began with the presentation of a speech by the head of the center, Prof. Dr. Abd al-Salam Najm al-Din, in which he said that the main objective of establishing the center is not only interest in Kurdish research and Kurdish literature, but rather to strengthen ties between teachers and students with other universities, adding that this series is a unique opportunity to introduce personalities, researchers and intellectuals beyond the borders of the university, in addition to exchanging ideas and opinions through the participation of many specialists from the universities of Dohuk, Erbil, Mosul and other Iraqi universities.

The first symposium was launched in cooperation with the English Department under the title: (Contemporary Trends and Progress in Language and Literature) with two sessions.

The series of seminars that will be held by the rest of the faculty departments (Arabic language, Turkish language, Kurdish language, history, and Islamic studies) will continue and will be held on Mondays of every week.
