The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research along with eight universities from the Kurdistan region ; namely (The University of Zakho, Dohuk University, Dohuk Polytechnic University, Garmiyan, and Charmo) participated in (APPRAIS) project of the European Union.
On Tuesday and Wednesday (2/2/2021, 3/2/2021), Professor Dr. Yaseen T. Mustafa-Vice President of the University for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies, Dr. Diler A. Akrahi-Director of Quality Assurance at the University of Zakho represented the University in the first meeting of (APPRAIS) project of the Middle East University Union. This union consists of four European universities and the eight aforementioned universities from the Kurdistan region. The project was entitled (APPRAIS, governance, quality, accountability: a Piloting Reform process in kurdistan region of Iraq).
In the beginning, a virtual online meeting started by a speech delivered by director of UNIMID and another speech by the representative of the European Union office in Erbil. Then the representatives of the universities delivered their speeches on the project and their universities.
Professor Dr. Yaseen T. Mustafa-Vice President of the University for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies delivered a speech. In his speech, he talked about the university relationships with foreign universities, emphasised on the progress the University of Zakho is achieving each year, and the weak points of the University.
He added that the University of Zakho will get benefits from this reform project (APPRAIS) which will last for three years.
At the end, Dr. Mohamed Ahmed-representative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research delivered a speech in which he said that the minister supports this project and hopes for its success, hoping that it would a good step in reforming the higher education.
