Two students from the University of Zakho—Sindi Sherzad Islam, a student in the Department of English at the College of Humanities, and Ibrahim Khalil Lazgin, a student in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the College of Engineering—are at Minnesota State University Moorhead in the state of Minnesota, USA, for a semester of study.

Both students participated in the naming ceremony for the Friendship Park between the cities of Zakho and Moorhead, and they have also taken part in several cultural and academic activities.

This comes following the visit of Mr.  Gohdar Sheekhoo, Supervisor of the Zakho Independent Administration, to the city of Moorhead in the state of Minnesota, USA, and the exchange of various cultural, academic, and environmental matters between the two cities. Therefore, these two study courses are happily being financially supported by the Zakho Independent Administration.
