University of Zakho Launches Tree-Planting and Campus Clean-Up Campaign in Cooperation with Zakho Environment Directorate
The University of Zakho, through its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Center and in coordination with the Zakho Environment Directorate, organized a tree-planting and campus clean-up campaign as part of its environmental awareness initiatives aimed at promoting sustainability and ecological responsibility.
The campaign took place on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, across different areas of the university campus. The initiative sought to strengthen environmental responsibility among students and staff members while highlighting the importance of green spaces and sustainable practices within higher education institutions.
Participants from the University of Zakho and environmental organizations actively contributed to planting trees in designated locations throughout the campus. The activity also included cleaning efforts to improve the university environment and encourage collective action toward environmental protection and ecological improvement.
The initiative reflects the university’s long-term commitment to environmental sustainability and aligns with global efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to climate action, life on land, and sustainable cities and communities.
Through such initiatives, the University of Zakho continues to reinforce its role in spreading environmental awareness and contributing to a greener and more sustainable future for the region.
