With the attendance of the President of the University of Zakho, Dr. Diyar A. Saeed, alongside the Vice President for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Jassim M. Abdo, and the Director of the Language Center, Mr. Ivan H. Murad, the joint scientific committee overseeing the Turkish Language Proficiency Test (TÖMER) officially commenced the administration of the test on February 9, 2026. The test will be conducted under the supervision of the Scientific Committee for the TÖMER proficiency assessment, along with the head of the Turkish Language Proficiency Test Committee, Mr. Juma Q. Mohammed, and a faculty member at the University of Şırnak, Dr. Adnan Kok.

It is worth noting that the Turkish language proficiency examination will continue for two days. The test consists of two components: a theoretical (writing) section and an oral (speaking) section.

The establishment of the TÖMER program at the University of Zakho represents a significant opportunity for graduates of universities in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq to obtain internationally recognized certificates which enable them to pursue postgraduate studies (Master’s and PhD) at Turkish universities, as well as to enhance their employment prospects in Turkey.
