An Official Message of Support from the University of Zakho to Our Sisters and Brothers in Rojava Kurdistan
Victory and pride to our resilient people in Rojava Kurdistan:
We, as the University of Zakho—an academic community of professors, staff, and students—with hearts full of pain and sorrow and with a strong national spirit, are closely following the heartbreaking events and brutal attacks carried out against our Kurdish sisters and brothers in Rojava Kurdistan.
Today, we gather here to declare loudly: “The pain of Rojava is the pain of Zakho, Duhok, Erbil, and Sulaymaniyah.” The ongoing brutal attacks are not only assaults on land and territory, but attacks on the identity and existence of a peace-loving people who have never committed aggression against anyone.
Our message to our sisters and brothers in Rojava Kurdistan:
You are not alone. Even if geography separates us, our hearts beat together for the same values of life, dignity, and freedom. Your resistance and heroism in the face of these tragedies are a powerful lesson in steadfastness and courage for the entire world. Your martyrs are the crown upon our heads, and your wounds are the wounds of our own bodies.
Our demands as a university:
-
To the international community and international organizations: We call for immediate fulfillment of humanitarian and legal responsibilities to stop these attacks and to protect civilians from displacement and killing.
-
To our resilient people: The will of the people is stronger than weapons, and history has proven that oppression has never triumphed over rightful justice.
Glory to our immortal martyrs.
Wishes of health and recovery to the wounded and to our people in Rojava.
Long live the Kurds and Kurdistan.
