On 23–24 September 2025, a delegation from the University of Zakho attended the workshop of the RISE project held in Sulaymaniyah. The delegation comprised Dr. Jasim Mohammed Abdo, Vice President for Scientific Affairs; Dr. Nizar Ismat Ali, Director of the International Relations Office; and Mr. Lawend Ikram Mohammed, Director of the CDC Center.

 

It is noteworthy that the project brings together seven Kurdish universities and two European universities and is coordinated by the Mediterranean Universities Union (UNIMED), Italy.

 

During the consultative workshop, the participating partners engaged in comprehensive discussions on various pertinent issues, including the enhancement of strategic roadmaps related to internationalization and employability at each partner institution; the role and future of higher education in Kurdistan; improving the coordination of university services, specifically the International Office and Career Development Center; supporting continuous professional development; as well as fostering mobility opportunities for staff and students and encouraging research and innovation.

 

This EU-funded project is scheduled to continue over a two-year period, with a series of workshops and training activities planned to be conducted both within Kurdistan and across Europe.
