The International Symposium on Petroleum Engineering was held

Under the supervision of (Prof.Dr. Nazim Sulaiman), President of Zakho University, and (Prof.Dr. First Hito), Dean of the College of Engineering. On Tuesday, the 25th of February, 2025, the College of Engineering at Zakho University hosted the International Symposium on Petroleum Engineering.

This symposium consisted of several main items, including:
1.Presentation of a seminar by (Mr. Mark Wheeler), HSE Manager at DNO asa Company.

2.Presentation of a seminar by (Engr. Tawana Nawzad), Service Coordinator at Halliburton Company.

3.Presentation of a seminar by (Asst. Prof. Dr. Govand Sherwani), Oil & Gas Expert and Consultant

4.The last part of the event featured a panel discussion on the topic of (Strengthening Cooperation between Academia and Industry in the Petroleum Sector in the Kurdistan Region) with the participation of:

(Myles B. Caggins - Spokesperson of the APIKUR). (Engr. Heja Mohammed Tawfiq - Associate Leader, Zakho Independent Administration). (Dr. Govand Sherwani), (Engr. Tawana Nawzad), moderated by (Mr. Dara Samyan) from the staff of the College of Engineering.

It is worth mentioning that the participants shared their experiences and insights on the topic of the discussion, addressing the challenges and opportunities for strengthening cooperation between the education system and the industrial sector.
