Second International Scientific Conference of the Faculty of Humanities Was Held

Under the auspices of the President of the University of Zakho, Asst. Prof. Dr. Lazgin A. Jamil, and with the presence of vices of the president, Minister of Culture and Youth in Kurdistan Mr. Khalid Musa, deans of the faculties, scholars, and university students, the Second International Scientific Conference was held at the University of Zakho.
At the beginning of the conference, the attendees stood a minute of silence in honor of martyrs of Kurdistan with the national anthem "Ay Raqeb" being played. Then the panels of the conference were started by a speech delivered by Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Assist. Prof. Dr. Diyar A. Saeed. In his speech, he warmly welcomed all guests, scholars, and lecturers of universities. Then he emphasized on the significance of the conference at the current situation, history of Kurds, stages it underwent, and talked in depth about "Culture, Dictionary, and Kurdish Literature". After that, Head of Kurdish Department, Assist. Prof. Dr. Hussein O. Abdul-Rahman, delivered his speech and explained many aspects of the conference, the date of its announcement, the process of accepting researches, and the number of researches that have been submitted from and outside Kurdistan region. At the end of his speech, he expressed his gratitude towards whose who helped in the arrangement and implementation of the conference.

After the speeches, the conference's debate entitling "Kurdish Language and Its History" began at 11:45 am, with the participation of the Vice President of the University of Zakho for Students Affairs Prof. Dr. Abdulwahab Kh. Mosa, Minister of Culture and Youth Mr. Khalid Musa, Counselor of the Ministry of Education Assist. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Qarani, and Language Specialist at University of Sulaimani Prof. Dr. Hogar M. Faraj. It is worth mentioning that members of this debate shared their perspectives and had an academic and fruitful discussion. Then some lecturers of the University of Zakho, who gained their scientific tittle for the academic year 2016-2017, were awarded.

In addition to this, library of the Faculty of Humanities was opened by the Minister of Culture and Youth in a special occasion at 12:30 pm. It is worthwhile to note that this library is a first electronic library in Kurdistan. Readers can get books they wishes and read it on their free time.
The last panel was presented by Assist. Prof. Dr. Hussein O. Abdul-Rahman, at 4:00 pm, then the opportunity was given to attendees to share their opinions.
