The Career Development Center Concludes a Training Course on Nursing and Psychological Counseling

Under the supervision of the Career Development Center (CDC) at the University of Zakho, and in coordination with the General Directorate of Health of the Independent Administration of Zakho, a specialized training course in the fields of nursing and psychological counseling for a group of university students was successfully concluded.

Duration and Scope of the Course

The course lasted for two weeks, from March 9 to March 19, 2026, with the participation of 25 university students. The primary objective of the training was to prepare students to deal with emergency situations and to enhance their practical skills in providing essential healthcare support.

Scientific and Practical Components

During the course, students were introduced, through a scientific and practical approach, to several important topics, including:

  • Initial emergency response: how to manage emergency cases and crisis situations.
  • Basic nursing procedures: such as measuring blood pressure, inserting cannulas, and providing basic medical care.
  • Psychological health support: methods of psychological relaxation and appropriate ways of interacting with patients from a mental health perspective.

Academic Training Staff

The course was delivered by a team of specialized instructors and academic professionals, including:

  • Mr. Jan Wlat Mahmoud Abdulhamid
  • Mr. Ali Faizi Rashid
  • Ms. Zakia Agid Tawfiq
  • Mr. Hoshang Akram Khurshid

The course concluded with a formal ceremony attended by the Director of the Career Development Center (CDC) and the Vice Presidents of the University of Zakho. During the event, certificates of participation were awarded to the students and trainers in recognition of their dedication and successful completion of the program.
