The University of Zakho has achieved significant results in the July 2026 edition of the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, proving its commitment to increasing its research impact and academic visibility on a global scale.

The newly released data reveals a strong upward trajectory for the institution, showcasing substantial improvements across all major academic categories since the last assessment conducted in January. The University of Zakho has successfully translated its strategic investments in digital infrastructure and transparent research publication into a prestigious standing and tangible achievements.

A comparison between the January and July statistics highlights that the University of Zakho is rapidly closing the gap and competing strongly with its peer universities:

• Public Universities (Kurdistan Region): The University of Zakho advanced from fourth to third place, solidifying its position as one of the top three leading academic powers in the region.

• All Public and Private Universities (Kurdistan Region): The university rose from fifth to fourth place, demonstrating its high competitiveness against educational institutions in both the public and private sectors.

• All Public and Private Universities (Iraq): The university jumped from twentieth to seventeenth place across Iraq, breaking into the top twenty list, which reflects the expanding scope of its academic impact nationwide.
