The delegation of University of Zakho visited the Directorate of Climate Change and the Board of Environmental Protection and Improvement on 23/04/2026 to strengthen cooperation and coordination in the fields of environment, climate change, and sustainable development.

The delegation included Vice President Asst. Prof. Dr. Jasim Mohammad Abdo, Director of Ranking Dr. Mehvan Fahmi Sami, and the founder of the Zakho Center for Sustainable Development Goals at University of Zakho, Ms. Diman Zuhair Jacksi.

During the visit, the delegation met with the Director of Climate Change and the Environmental Board, Haval Ahmed Mohammed, and the Director of the Office of the Head of the Environmental Protection and Improvement Board, Ahmed Mohammed Moloud.

The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between University of Zakho and the Board of Environmental Protection and Improvement, particularly in supporting sustainability initiatives, environmental awareness, and climate action.

Both sides discussed preparing a joint symposium among universities in the Kurdistan Region in cooperation with the Environmental Protection and Improvement Board, as well as organizing an international conference on environmental protection, climate change, and sustainability.

The visit also emphasized the importance of enhancing coordination among universities, government institutions, and related ministries to support environmental policies and achieve sustainable development goals across the region.
