Zakho University is pleased to announce a significant academic achievement following the release of the Arab University Rankings 2026. According to the newly published results, Zakho University—together with the Universities of Sulaimani and Raparin—has been classified in Group 1 among public universities in the Kurdistan Region, Group 3 among all (public and private) universities in the Kurdistan Region, and Group 4 among universities throughout Iraq.

At the level of Arab countries, Zakho University has secured a position within the 126–150 ranking band among all Arab universities. This marks a notable improvement from last year’s placement in the 181–200 band, reflecting a 55-place advancement and demonstrating the university’s ongoing progress in academic performance and research quality.

This accomplishment follows another major recognition announced recently, in which Zakho University achieved first place among public and private universities in the Kurdistan Region and second place among universities across Iraq in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, based on a wide range of research indicators.

These achievements reaffirm the university’s commitment to strengthening the quality of scientific research, fostering a supportive and innovative research environment, and advancing impactful projects that respond to societal needs. They also highlight the leadership’s continuous efforts to promote excellence and contribute to the development of higher education locally and regionally.
