The University of Zakho in cooperation with Kurdistan Students Union (KSU) Zakho Branch commemorated Kurdistan Flag Day on December 17, 2023.

The ceremony was held in the presence of the vice presidents of UoZ, representatives of the 8th Branch of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), officials and members of the KSU Zakho branch, teachers, employees, and students of the university. The event included a variety of insightful talks, engaging activities, and warm welcomes.

On this occasion, several paintings of Kurdistan's nature were shown in an art exhibition opened at the presidency of UoZ. Thereafter, the Kurdistan flag was raised with the national anthem (Ay Raqib) being played in the garden of the university building.

The speeches delivered by Dr. Ramadhan J. Mustafa, Vice President for Students Affairs, and Mr. Ahmed Saeed, Head of the Students Union in Zakho, highlighted the importance of the history and struggle of the Kurdish nation and emphasized the significance of the Kurdistan Flag Day to honor the cultural identity and legacy of the Kurdish people. Then, KSU presented an honorary award to Dr. Lazgin A. Jamil, former President of UoZ.

Finally, the Department of Sports Activities of the College of Education organized a volleyball championship for university students, and at last, the winners were rewarded.
