The University of Zakho in cooperation with the High Council of Women’s Affairs and the Rawshan Organization for Defending Women's Human Rights, launched the 16 Days of Activism Against Women's Violence at the University of Zakho on December 4, 2023.

The symposium was held under the able guidance and supervision of the respected Head of the Independent Administration of Zakho, Mr. Guhdar Shekho, and in the presence of the President of the University of Zakho, Prof. Dr. Nadhim S. Abdulaziz, and the Secretary General of the Kurdistan Regional Government High Council of Women’s Affairs, Dr. Khanzad Ahmad, some government institutions and organizations, and several distinguished figures from the public and private sectors at the level of Duhok and the Independent Administration of Zakho.

The event featured an open panel moderated by the Director of the Gender Equality Center, Ms. Nazdar A. Brindar, and featured panelists, Prof. Dr. Avin Kh. Abdulrahman, Dean of the College of Law at the University of Duhok, Prof. Dr. Nafisa I. Haji, a Lecturer at the University of Duhok, and Pro. Dr. Zubeida S. Salih, Head of the Department of Sociology at the University of Duhok, discussing the policies adopted by the KRG for the political, social, literary, and economic empowerment of women and considering the elimination of violence against women.
