The university of Zakho participated in the meeting held in the ministry of higher education and scientific research at Wednesday and Thursday 18th -19th of January 2017 to prepare and submit a project to Erasmus plus. The vice president Dr. Yaseen Taha Mustafa, Dr. Naseem Abdal and Dr. Shaker Rasheed represented university of Zakho in this meeting. The participants were three Kurdistan universities: University of Zakho, Soran University and University of Sulaimani plus the main partner Lund University - Sweden. Professor Claus the coordinator of the project from Lund university has had led a successful meeting in Erbil. The project requires three partners from Kurdistan and three partners from Europe beside associate partners. The meeting have had a fruitful results and the project got an important associate partner, the ministry of higher education and scientific research in Kurdistan which can be considered as a big achievement. Also, Dr. Naseem Abdal with Prof. Claus had a meeting with a company to get another associate partners from Kurdistan. The projects main idea is to set up a curriculum for a national master"s program in Geo-mathematics, which should be open for students with a bachelor"s degree in either geology, mathematics or physics. The project requires expertise from geoscience, physics and scientific computing, including mathematical modelling. Moreover, the project will include a group with experience in education science aspects of curriculum development. It is worth to mentioning that the president of University of Zakho Dr. Lazgin Abdi Jamil visited Prof. Claus in Erbil to show his support to the project.
