Fulbright Visiting Scholars Program for 2023

The Career Development Centre CDC at the University of Zakho is pleased to inform its scholars that the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad has declared the launch of the Fulbright Visiting Scholars Program for 2023. The aforementioned program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State in which fifteen (15) junior Iraqi researchers will spend 10 weeks at selected U.S. host institutions.

Grantees will be selected from the following disciplines: Engineering, Science, Technology, Teaching English as a Foreign Language, and Linguistics.

Eligible Applicants must:

• Be Iraqi citizens and residents of Iraq now and throughout the application process.

• Possess high proficiency in written and spoken English (recommended minimum TOEFL score of 500).

• Be full-time Iraqi university faculty members who possess, at a minimum, a master's degree and at least three years of university-level teaching experience or a Ph.D. and no more than eight years of teaching experience.

• Be committed to classroom teaching and desire to strengthen teaching and leadership skills.

• Not have applied or been planning to apply for a U.S. green card or asylum status.

• Not be dual citizens of the U.S. and Iraq.

• Be able to travel to and remain in the U.S. during the allocated period of June through September 2023.
