Delegates from the University of Zakho Participated in the CDC Workshop

The Director of the Career and Development Center at the University of Zakho, Ms. Edi S. Kachal, along with the career specialist Mr. Sabah S. Haji, and the program coordinator Mr. Ali M. Qader attended as participants in the training workshop, which was organized by IREX and sponsored by the US Embassy in Iraq. The workshop took place in the Ainkawa Royal Hotel in Erbil on 19th of September 2015.

Representatives from eight public universities in the Kurdistan Region participated in this workshop, including delegates from the University of Duhok, the University of Sulaimani, the University of Raparin, the University of Soran, the University of Zakho, the Erbil Polytechnic University, the Duhok Polytechnic University, and the Sulaimani Polytechnic University.

Ms. Kachal, Director of the CDC at the University of Zakho, gave a seminar, which was divided into two presentations. The first presentation dealt with the role of CDC within the University of Zakho and its future plans. The second presentation, in collaboration with the IREX organization, discussed the role of CDC in linking the educational aspect with the industrial aspect, in order to build a bridge between the University of Zakho and the regional private sector.

The training workshop was held in the presence of Ms. Lori Mason, the Project Director of the Iraq University Linkage Program, along with Dr. Jwan Jalal Sharif, the General Director of Delegates and Cultural Relations at the KRG Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Maqsood S. Mohammed, the Director of Relations at the KRG Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Ms. Delan Akrawi, Advisor at the KRG Deputy Prime Minister’s Office.

It was the second training workshop which has been held for CDC university members in the Kurdistan Region by IREX in 2015. The outcome of the workshop was to create suitable plans and strategies for Career and Development Centers in order to get better targets in Kurdistan universities.
